Palmetto Packing CHEKSEAL 981 is a shaft-mounted, self-adjusting axial lip seal widely used in axles, bearings and swivel joints to deflect contaminants and avoid lubricant loss.
It features a flexible hinged lip that seals axially against a radial face and does not require any special machining to tightly fit the shaft.
This easy-to-install lip seal is made from highly resilient nitrile rubber & can be easily stretched over shaft obstructions. The natural tension of the rubber helps the seal securely hold its place while the shaft turns.
It can automatically vent excess grease during regreasing and operates effectively at temperatures ranging from -20 to 225 degrees F.
