PROTO hex key sets are designed to tighten or loosen fastening screws in automotive, industrial machinery and scientific equipment. They have hexagonal tips to fit in the 6-sided indentation in the screw head or bolt.
Place one of the ends inside a fastener with a hexagonal key and turn it.
Turn the key for rotating the fastener to tighten or loosen it.
For tightening, rotate clockwise. For removing or loosening, turn it counter-clockwise.
Features
PROTO hex key sets feature heat-treated alloy steel construction with rust-resistant black oxide finish for prolonged use.
They come with plain, L-shaped, fold-up & ergonomic T-handles for convenient fastening.
The folding hex key sets (such as J4978) comprise multiple keys attached to one handle.
Keys with tips having a hex ball end allow fasteners access to hard-to-reach areas from multiple angles.
Selected models are L-shaped and have two arms of unequal length.
They allow both Metric & SAE measurement and are available in packs of 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15 & 18 pieces.
These sets are supplied in a metal storage box or moulded plastic holder.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between T-shaped and L-shaped keys?
T-shaped hex key sets (unlike L-shaped keys) feature one long arm with a drive tip at the end, along with a handle for delivering more torque when rotating fasteners.
What is the difference between long end & short end handle keys?
Rotating a long end handle key delivers more torque on the fastener, as compared to using a short end handle key.
