Structural Washers

Structural washers are used with structural screws, bolts, studs & nuts for ensuring the structural integrity of an engineered joint. Raptor Supplies offers structural washers from brands like Fabory and Grainger. These washers are used in construction and exterior building applications.

Features

  • Structural washers have a hole in the centre for easy installation of the fastener.
  • They have a specialised design to prevent rotation and subsequent loosening.
  • Structural washers can bear structural loads as they can distribute force over a large surface area.
  • They are available in flat, square bevelled & notched variants in both Imperial & Metric dimensions.
  • Fabory structural washers feature carbon steel construction with plain or hot dipped galvanised finish for strength & corrosion resistance.
  • Grainger structural washers come in packs containing multiple pieces for easy replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the strength grades / classes denote?

  • The grade or class of a washer denotes its strength & compatibility with the respective nut / threaded rod / screw / bolt.
  • The higher the grade, the higher the strength of the fastener.
  • SAE grades are used for Imperial washers. Washers having the same SAE strength grade as other fasteners should be used together.
  • ISO classes are used for Metric washers. Washers having the same first digit as a fastener are meant to be used together.
  • ASTM grades are based on factors like strength, pressure & temperature.

How to install a tension / load indicator structural washer?

A tension / load indicator structural washer can be installed on a bolt assembly while taking care that the washer does not come in contact with the rotating surface of the attached nut or bolt head. Coming in contact with a rotating part would cause premature compression & wear on the ridges of the washer and render it useless.
