Features

  • These removable machine elements are installed between shaft key seats and hub keyways to transmit torque in power transmission assemblies.
  • They prevent movement between the shaft & component.
  • They are constructed of steel / stainless steel with zinc-plated finish for oxidation resistance.
  • Tapered head gib keys with round or square ends are used for machine tool assembly and removal.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to install woodruff keys?

  • Woodruff keys should be installed on the hub's low side.
  • The key will rock in the keyway during installation, allowing a tight fit.
  • If the key is installed on the hub's high side, it will catch, resulting in improper installation and the risk of damage to the assembly.

What standards do these machine keys comply with?

ANSI B17.1 and DIN 6888.
