They have I-beam construction with hardened wear surfaces & thrust bearing slide assemblies for increased durability & smooth operation. These tubing cutters are equipped with a patented X-CEL knob for a firmer grip & X-CEL wheel pin for changing cutter wheels quickly.
  • Ridgid soil pipe cutters use chains that are equipped with cutter wheels for tightening around cast-iron, concrete or clay pipes until the pipe breaks.
  • Ridgid four wheel pipe cutters are used in large pipes or in confined areas where complete turning of the tool is not possible. Their cutter wheels swing through an arc of 120 degrees each to track the groove cut by another wheel and complete the cut.
  • Ridgid foam core cutters can cleanly cut foam core ABS & foam core PVC pipes of 1.5 & 2 inch sizes by just snapping onto the pipe and rotating single time to make a complete cut.

Working Mechanism

  • Mounting: Solidly fix the pipe and place the cutter on it by turning the feed handle counterclockwise, such that the rollers on the cutter come in contact with the pipe. Clockwise turn the screw handle again so that the cutter wheel comes in contact with the pipe. The rollers on the cutter steadies the cutter on the pipe, whereas the cutter wheel contacts the pipe itself.
  • True Tracking: After the cutter wheel contacts the pipe, turn the feed screw quarter of a turn to engage the cutter wheel. Rotate the cutter 360 degrees to make a light groove on the wheel.
  • Cutting: After true tracking on the pipe, tighten the feed screw again up to a quarter of a turn. Rotate the cutter progressively around the pipe after screw tightening at each turn to cut the pipe.
